About
Blue Panorama Airlines ceased all operations in October 2021, following prolonged financial difficulties exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This guide provides historical information about the airline.
Blue Panorama Airlines S.p.A. was an Italian leisure and charter airline headquartered in Rome. Founded in 1998, the airline primarily served Italian holidaymakers traveling to long-haul destinations in the Caribbean, Africa, and the Americas, while also operating scheduled services and wet lease contracts for other carriers.
At its peak, Blue Panorama carried approximately 2 million passengers annually and operated a mixed fleet of Boeing 737s for short/medium-haul routes and Boeing 767s for long-haul services. The airline was known for its focus on Italian package holiday destinations, particularly serving tour operators with flights to popular resorts.
Blue Panorama operated independently without membership in any airline alliance. In its later years, the airline explored partnerships with Blue Air, the Romanian low-cost carrier, including a proposed merger that ultimately did not materialize due to regulatory and financial complications.
The airline's distinctive blue livery with red accents was a familiar sight at Italian airports for over two decades, representing one of Italy's few independent long-haul leisure carriers outside the Alitalia group.
