Introduction
Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), officially Tokyo International Airport, is Japan's busiest airport and one of the world's most efficient. Located just 14 km south of central Tokyo, it is significantly closer to the city than Narita Airport (60 km away), making it the preferred choice for travelers heading to central Tokyo.
The airport has three terminals arranged in a curved layout along Tokyo Bay:
- Terminal 1: Domestic flights, primarily Japan Airlines (JAL) and Skymark
- Terminal 2: Domestic flights for All Nippon Airways (ANA) and some international flights (ANA international operations)
- Terminal 3: International flights, most foreign carriers and low-cost airlines
All terminals are connected by a free 24-hour shuttle bus and the Tokyo Monorail. Terminals 1 and 2 are also connected by an indoor walkway (approximately 400 meters). Terminal 3 is the dedicated international terminal with extensive duty-free shopping and dining options.
Haneda is renowned for its efficiency, cleanliness, and exceptional food options. The airport regularly ranks among the world's best for dining, with authentic ramen, sushi, and tempura rivaling Tokyo's finest restaurants.
