About
Edelweiss Air is Switzerland's leading leisure airline, specializing in vacation destinations from Zurich. Founded in 1995 and named after Switzerland's unofficial national flower (the edelweiss), the airline has become synonymous with Swiss holiday travel. Edelweiss is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and has been part of the Lufthansa Group since 2008.
Headquartered in Kloten near Zurich Airport, Edelweiss operates a mixed fleet of Airbus aircraft serving European beach destinations, the Canary Islands, and long-haul leisure markets including the Caribbean, Maldives, Thailand, and North America. The airline carries approximately 1.5 million passengers annually, focusing exclusively on leisure routes that complement SWISS's business-focused network.
While not a Star Alliance member itself, Edelweiss passengers benefit from the alliance's network through codeshare arrangements with SWISS. The airline participates in the Miles & More program for flights booked under SWISS codeshare numbers, allowing passengers to earn and redeem miles on Edelweiss flights.
