Austria
Schengen area - visa-free for EU/EEA citizens
Overview
Austria is a small but strategically located Central European country that serves as a gateway between Western and Eastern Europe. Vienna International Airport (VIE) is the primary hub for Austrian Airlines and a key connection point for travel to Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and beyond.
Despite its compact size, Austria has three international airports serving distinct regions: Vienna for the capital and eastern Austria, Salzburg for the Mozart region and Alpine tourism, and Innsbruck as a gateway to the Tyrolean Alps. The country's excellent rail network means many travelers can reach Austrian destinations without domestic flights.
Austria's central location makes Vienna a natural connecting hub, particularly for routes between Western Europe and destinations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
