Netherlands
Schengen area - visa-free for EU/EEA citizens
Overview
The Netherlands is a compact country in Northwestern Europe that punches well above its weight in aviation. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) is one of Europe's busiest airports and serves as the global hub for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the world's oldest airline still operating under its original name.
Despite its small size, the Netherlands has excellent air connectivity to destinations worldwide. Schiphol consistently ranks among Europe's top five airports by passenger traffic and offers direct flights to over 300 destinations. The country's central European location makes it a natural gateway between North America, Europe, and beyond.
For domestic travel, flights are unnecessary. The Netherlands' excellent rail network connects all major cities within 2-3 hours, making trains the practical choice for getting around.
