Overview

Senegal is West Africa's westernmost country and a growing regional aviation hub. Located on the Atlantic coast, Senegal serves as a gateway to French-speaking West Africa and an important transit point between Europe, the Americas, and the African continent.

The country's aviation landscape was transformed in 2017 with the opening of Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS), a modern facility replacing the aging Dakar-Leopold Sedar Senghor Airport (DKR). Senegal is home to Air Senegal (HC), the national carrier, which operates regional routes across Africa and intercontinental flights to Europe.

With its strategic location, rich culture, and improving infrastructure, Senegal attracts business travelers, tourists seeking beaches and wildlife, and travelers connecting to other West African destinations.

Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) — Opened in December 2017, this modern airport is located approximately 47 km southeast of central Dakar. The airport features modern amenities, duty-free shopping, and improved customs processing.

Getting to Dakar: The airport is connected to the city via the Dakar-AIBD highway. Travel time to central Dakar is 45-60 minutes by taxi or private transfer.
