Overview
Manchester Airport (MAN) serves Greater Manchester and Northern England from south of the city. Terminal 1 closed in March 2026, leaving a two-terminal passenger layout:
- Terminal 2: all airlines except Ryanair.
- Terminal 3: Ryanair only.
Use the airport's current terminal finder with the flight details before travelling. The airport transport interchange, known as The Station, combines rail, Metrolink tram, bus, and coach services and is linked to the terminals by signed covered Skylink walkways.

Connections & Transfers
Use Manchester Airport's current connecting-flight guide rather than the former three-terminal instructions.
Within Terminal 2
Terminal 2 has two Flight Transfer Centres. Eligible passengers on a single ticket can follow Flight Transfers without entering the UK or collecting hold baggage when the airline participates and bags are checked through. Confirm eligibility with the airline; not every carrier or itinerary participates.
Passengers on separate bookings must complete arrivals, pass the UK Border where applicable, collect baggage, check in again, and clear departure security.
Between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3
There is no direct transfer facility. Follow the arrivals process, pass the UK Border if applicable, collect hold baggage, and use the signed landside walking route to the other terminal. Complete check-in and security there. Terminal 3 is a Ryanair-only terminal, and the airport states that Ryanair does not offer transfer services.
Connection eligibility and airline deadlines vary, so the former generic walking and minimum-time tables have been removed.

Getting In and Out
Rail, Metrolink, local buses, and coaches all use The Station, connected to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 by covered, signed walkways. Direct trains reach Manchester Piccadilly in about 20 minutes; Metrolink runs to Victoria through the city centre; Bee Network buses 43 and 103 run to Piccadilly Gardens. Check live service information before choosing between rail and tram.
Public Transit
Train
Direct National Rail services run from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly and onward destinations. Buy the appropriate ticket before boarding and check National Rail or the train operator for live departures, planned engineering work, and whether the chosen train is direct.
Metrolink tram
The airport–Victoria line runs from the Metrolink platforms inside The Station. Pay before travel at a ticket machine, or tap in and out with the same contactless card or device. The train is normally quicker for Piccadilly, while the tram serves intermediate Greater Manchester stops and the city-centre Metrolink network.
Bus and coach
Bee Network routes 43 and 103 provide direct airport–Piccadilly Gardens service; route 43 operates around the clock. Other local buses and long-distance coaches also use The Station. Use the Bee Network or coach operator journey planner for the current bay, timetable, and fare.
Parking
Manchester Airport offers extensive parking options:
| Type | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-storey (T1/T2/T3) | From £6/hour | Walking distance to terminals |
| Meet & Greet | From £50/week | Valet service at terminal door |
| Long Stay | From £45/week | Free shuttle, 5-10 min to terminals |
| JetParks 1, 2, 3 | From £35/week | Budget options with shuttle service |
Pre-booking online saves significantly - often 50% or more versus drive-up rates. The airport's own website typically offers the best official rates, but comparison sites like SkyParkSecure show third-party alternatives.
Drop-off and pick-up:
- Free drop-off is available in the JetParks area with shuttle to terminals
- Forecourt drop-off costs £5 for 10 minutes, £6 for 15 minutes
- Consider the free drop-off zones if you have time

- WHSmith (all terminals, arrivals and departures)
- Dixons Travel (Terminals 1 and 3)
- Vodafone (Terminal 1 arrivals)
- EE (Terminal 2)
UK prepaid SIMs from EE, Vodafone, Three, and O2 cost £10-30 for data packages. Most include EU roaming at no extra cost.
Tip: Order a SIM online before travel (GiffGaff, Lebara, and others offer free SIMs posted internationally) for better value than airport prices.
Cash & ATMs
ATMs are located throughout all terminals in arrivals and departures areas. Major UK banks represented include:
- Barclays
- HSBC
- NatWest
- Lloyds
ATM withdrawals are free for UK bank accounts. International cards may incur fees of £1.50-3.
Currency exchange counters (Travelex, Moneycorp) are available in all terminals but offer poor rates. Better options:
- Use your debit card at ATMs (check foreign transaction fees first)
- Use a travel card like Wise, Revolut, or Monzo
- Exchange currency before arrival or in the city centre
