flydubai is a Dubai-based low-cost carrier wholly owned by the Government of Dubai, operating as the emirate's budget airline complementing its full-service sister carrier Emirates. Founded in 2008 and launching operations in 2009, flydubai has grown to serve over 125 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Central Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.

The airline operates an all-Boeing 737 MAX fleet (plus some 737-800s), carrying approximately 14 million passengers annually. flydubai is known for pioneering routes to underserved destinations that other airlines don't reach from Dubai, including numerous points in Central Asia, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and secondary cities across its network.

flydubai maintains a strategic partnership with Emirates, including codeshare agreements and loyalty program integration through Emirates Skywards. This partnership allows passengers to connect seamlessly between the two carriers at Dubai International Airport (DXB), with flydubai operating primarily from Terminal 2.
