Malaga Airport Guide

Málaga Airport is an easy gateway for the city and western Costa del Sol once you stop treating T2 and T3 as separate airline terminals. Aena presents the connected buildings as a single passenger terminal, Terminal T, so check the current flight display for your check-in area and gate rather than using an old carrier-by-building list.

The C1 train is the simplest traffic-free option for Málaga María Zambrano, the city centre, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, and Fuengirola. Direct airport coaches are more useful for Marbella, Estepona, Nerja, and longer-distance destinations.

T2 and T3 form one connected passenger-terminal area, so there is no terminal shuttle to plan. That does not guarantee an airside path for every itinerary: passport control, security, baggage collection, and check-in depend on the route, airlines, and whether the flights share a ticket.

AGP is mainly an origin-and-destination airport rather than a connection hub. If you built a self-transfer from separate tickets, allow for collecting bags, meeting the second airline's check-in cutoff, and repeating security. For a protected connection, follow the signs and ask the operating airline whether your bag is checked through.

Non-Schengen Arrivals

If you arrive from outside the Schengen area and continue to a Schengen flight, follow the connection signs for passport control. Whether you collect baggage or proceed toward the next gate depends on how the itinerary and baggage were ticketed.

Transfer Tips

• Check the gate on the live screen; a connected terminal can still involve a long walk.
• Confirm baggage handling at your origin if two airlines are involved.
• Treat separate tickets as a fresh departure, not a protected connection.

AGP is about 8 km from central Málaga. Take C1 for the city and rail-connected Costa del Sol towns. Use the city Airport Express bus for central stops away from the railway, or a direct intercity coach for Marbella, Estepona, Nerja, Granada, and other destinations shown on Aena's current bus page. Road time along the coast is traffic-sensitive.

Official taxis use the signed airport rank and regulated fare categories. Aena also lists Uber and Bolt with exclusive pickup areas; request the ride only after arrival and follow the app and terminal signs to the correct parking zone. Use a current quote rather than an old destination table, especially for long coastal trips.

Cercanías C1 Train (Recommended for Málaga)

The Cercanías C1 connects the airport with Málaga and Fuengirola. Aena publishes approximate trips of 8 minutes to Málaga María Zambrano, 12 minutes to Málaga centre, 18 minutes to Benalmádena, and 34 minutes to Fuengirola. Check Renfe's live timetable and fare for your travel date.

How to take the train to Málaga Centro:

1. Exit arrivals and follow signs to "Tren / Cercanías"
2. Take escalator or lift down to train platform level
3. Purchase the current ticket at the station machine
4. Board train toward "Málaga Centro" (not Fuengirola direction)
5. Alight at Málaga Centro-Alameda for city center or María Zambrano for AVE connections

María Zambrano connects with long-distance rail. For Torremolinos, Benalmádena, and Fuengirola, board in the opposite direction from Málaga Centro.

Bus Services

The city Airport–Málaga Centro Express leaves from the airport bus area. Aena currently lists a €4 single ticket with luggage included, payable by bank card or cash on board; confirm the timetable before travel.

Avanzabús serves Marbella and Estepona, Alsa serves Nerja and selected long-distance cities, and other operators cover additional regional routes. Buy from the named operator and confirm the airport stop—route coverage and departure frequency vary seasonally.

Late Night Transport

For a late arrival, check the last train and bus before relying on public transport. If they no longer run, use the official taxi rank or a confirmed VTC pickup.
