Paris Airport Guide

Paris Orly Airport (ORY) is south of Paris and serves domestic, European, overseas-French, North African, Middle Eastern, and other international routes.

The integrated passenger complex is divided into Orly 1, 2, 3, and 4. Orly 3 is the connecting building between the former Orly West and Orly South facilities. Check the operating airline and flight display for the current departure zone; fixed airline-terminal lists become stale quickly.

Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is a separate airport northeast of Paris. An ORY-CDG change is a landside inter-airport journey, not a terminal transfer. The public-transport planner may route passengers by Metro 14 into Paris and RER B to CDG, or by Orlyval to Antony and RER B. Road travel is traffic-dependent. Check Île-de-France Mobilités for works and ticket requirements, and build the buffer around baggage, the transfer, and the onward airline's check-in deadline.

Key fact: Orly 1-4 are parts of one connected building complex, but they do not form one unrestricted sterile zone. Security and border-control flows vary with the departure area and Schengen status.

Terminal Layout

• Orly 1 and 2: northern side of the integrated complex
• Orly 3: central junction building
• Orly 4: southern side, with distinct Schengen/non-Schengen processing areas

Follow the flight display and Paris Aéroport transfer signs. Whether bags are through-checked and whether a protected passenger can remain inside a controlled connection channel are airline- and itinerary-specific. Use the connection accepted by the operating airline rather than a generic airport-wide minimum.

Transfer Tips

• A public corridor between terminal zones is landside unless signs explicitly identify a secure connection route.
• Schengen/non-Schengen transfers can require passport control.
• Separate tickets can require immigration eligibility, baggage claim, new check-in, security, and departure controls.
• Confirm the exact route with the airline if the onward boarding pass or baggage status is unclear.

Metro line 14 runs directly from Aéroport d'Orly into Paris and is now the primary rail option. Orlyval to Antony/RER B and tram T7 remain alternatives for particular destinations. Orlybus closed permanently in March 2025. Taxis, app-based rides, and private vehicles are traffic-dependent.

Uber is available at Orly. Pickup points are clearly signed:

• Orly 1-2: Level 0, Arrivals exit door D
• Orly 3: Level 0, Arrivals exit
• Orly 4: Level 0, Arrivals exit door 48b

Typical Uber fare to central Paris: €30-55 depending on traffic, destination, and surge pricing.

Official Taxis use regulated flat-rate pricing:

• Left Bank (Rive Gauche): €35 flat rate
• Right Bank (Rive Droite): €41 flat rate

These rates cover the entire taxi, not per person. Taxis queue outside all terminal arrivals 24/7. Journey time: 20-45 minutes depending on traffic.

Note: Flat rates only apply to destinations within Paris proper (inside the Peripherique). Trips to La Defense, suburbs, or areas outside Paris use the meter.

Tip: Orly is closer to the Left Bank neighborhoods (Montparnasse, Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain), making it more convenient for hotels in that area.

Metro Line 14

Line 14 serves Aéroport d'Orly directly and connects with central Paris stations including Châtelet. Follow airport signs to the Metro station and check the live route planner for service changes. Airport travel requires an eligible airport ticket or pass; a normal city ticket is not automatically valid for the airport segment.

OrlyVal + RER B

The OrlyVal is an automated shuttle train connecting Orly to the RER B at Antony station.

How to take the OrlyVal:

1. Follow signs to "OrlyVal" in the terminal
2. OrlyVal station is located between Orly 1-2 and Orly 3-4
3. Board the automated train to Antony
4. At Antony, transfer to RER B toward Paris
5. Take RER B to the required Paris or regional stop

Tramway T7 (Budget Option)

Tramway T7 connects Orly to Villejuif-Louis Aragon Metro station (Line 7).

Route:

1. Board T7 at Orly terminals (stops at Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4)
2. Ride to Villejuif-Louis Aragon terminus
3. Transfer to Metro Line 7 for central Paris

Orlybus

Orlybus no longer operates. Île-de-France Mobilités closed the route on March 3, 2025 after line 14 opened to the airport. Use line 14 or another current journey returned by the official planner.

Orly offers several parking options with varying proximity and pricing.

Air France Lounges

Business Lounge - Orly 3:

Orly's location south of Paris provides quick access to the Left Bank and certain attractions.

Getting to Central Paris (30-40 min):

• Orlyval + RER B: Most reliable, connects to Latin Quarter, Saint-Michel, Chatelet
• Orlybus: Direct to Denfert-Rochereau, then Metro lines 4 or 6
