About

Shaheen Air International ceased all operations on November 9, 2018, following financial collapse and regulatory action. This guide provides historical information about the airline.

Shaheen Air International was Pakistan's second-largest private airline after Airbus Pakistan (later Serene Air). Headquartered in Karachi, the airline operated scheduled domestic services within Pakistan and international flights to the Middle East, particularly to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Founded in 1993 by the Tabani family, Shaheen Air began operations as a charter carrier and grew to become a significant player in Pakistan's aviation market. The airline was named after the Shaheen falcon (peregrine falcon), which is Pakistan's national bird.

At its peak, Shaheen Air carried approximately 2 million passengers annually and operated a fleet of around 10 aircraft. The airline was particularly known for its Hajj and Umrah charter operations, transporting Pakistani pilgrims to Saudi Arabia during the annual pilgrimage seasons.

The airline faced mounting financial difficulties through 2017-2018, including unpaid salaries, fuel debts, and maintenance issues. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) suspended Shaheen Air's license in November 2018, effectively ending all operations after 25 years of service.
