Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is the principal airport for Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley and a major American Airlines hub.

The passenger complex has seven connected terminal sections: A-West, A-East, B, C, D, E, and F. A-West contains the principal international gates and International Arrivals Hall. Getting Between Terminals

Walk between terminals inside security. For Terminal F, the secure shuttle stops at F-14, C-16, and A-1 and can avoid the longest pedestrian route. Outside security, only B-C and D-E have direct internal landside links; otherwise use the sidewalk or an airport shuttle as directed.

The operating airline determines valid minimum connection times. A separate-ticket transfer with checked bags requires baggage claim, a new check-in, and TSA screening even though all gates are connected airside.

International Arrivals

If arriving internationally and connecting to a domestic flight:

1. Follow signs from the arrival gate to the Terminal A-West International Arrivals Hall
2. Clear immigration
3. Collect checked bags at carousel
4. Clear customs
5. Re-check bags at the re-check counter if connecting domestically
6. Cross the connection bridge to the Terminal A-East TSA checkpoint and clear security again
7. Walk or use the secure Terminal F shuttle to the onward gate

Passengers arriving from a U.S. preclearance airport use the domestic-arrival flow.

The SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line links the terminals with Penn Medicine, 30th Street, Suburban, and Jefferson stations in Philadelphia. PHL also lists bus routes 37, 108, and 115. Taxis, app-based rides, shuttles, rental cars, and private vehicles use the terminal roads and are traffic-dependent.

Uber and Lyft are available at PHL. Rideshare pickup is located on the Ground Transportation roadway at the Commercial Transportation Curb on the arrivals level.

The SEPTA Airport Line (Regional Rail) connects PHL directly to Center City Philadelphia stations.

Getting to the SEPTA Station

Airport Line platforms are accessed by the pedestrian walkways between terminals and baggage claims at A-East, B, C, D, and E. Terminal F passengers use the Terminal E access. Follow signs to Trains/SEPTA and check the current platform direction.

Fares and Tickets

Airport Line fares vary by destination and payment method. SEPTA currently accepts Key and contactless payment at Regional Rail readers, with Quick Trip and onboard options subject to different prices. Check the official fare page before travel.

Journey to Center City

1. Board the Airport Line train at any terminal station
2. Trains serve these Center City stations:
   • Penn Medicine Station: University City connections
   • 30th Street Station: Amtrak and SEPTA connections
   • Suburban Station: City Hall area
   • Jefferson Station: Market East and Reading Terminal Market area

PHL currently describes half-hourly daily service between roughly 5 a.m. and midnight; verify the exact train in SEPTA's trip planner because schedules and disruptions change.

Alternative: SEPTA Bus Route 37

Bus Route 37 runs toward Snyder Station for a connection with the B1 subway service. Route 108 serves 69th Street Transit Center for the L, and PHL also lists Route 115 at the airport. Use SEPTA's live planner for the correct terminal stop, fare, and connection; these are local services and can be slower than Regional Rail for Center City.
