About
Qatar Airways is the national carrier of Qatar and operates its global network through Hamad International Airport in Doha (DOH). It has been a full member of oneworld since 2013—not a founding member—so eligible itineraries and status can connect with partners such as American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and Qantas.
Always check the operating carrier on a codeshare. Qatar's cabin, baggage, check-in, and lounge rules do not automatically govern a partner-operated segment.

Baggage Policy
Direct answer: Economy includes one cabin bag up to 7 kg (15 lb). Business and First normally include two pieces with a 15 kg (33 lb) combined limit. Each piece can be up to 50 × 37 × 25 cm (20 × 15 × 10 in). Qatar states that a laptop and laptop bag must fit within this allowance, so do not plan around a guaranteed extra personal item.
For premium-cabin flights departing the United States, local security rules limit hand baggage to one piece plus one personal item. Other local restrictions can also override the general allowance.
Checked baggage uses two different systems:
- Piece concept: flights to or from Africa or the Americas. The number of pieces depends on fare type; Economy pieces can be up to 23 kg (50 lb), while Business and First pieces can be up to 32 kg (70 lb).
- Weight concept: most other routes. Published allowances are generally 25, 30, or 35 kg for Economy Classic, Convenience, or Comfort; 40 kg for Business; and 50 kg for First. You can usually divide the total across pieces, but no single bag can exceed 32 kg.
On piece-concept routes, a checked bag can be up to 158 linear cm. On most weight-concept routes, the published maximum is 300 linear cm. Your confirmation and Manage booking are the deciding sources because fare family, route, status, partner segments, and ticket conditions can change the allowance.
Excess baggage pricing is route- and purchase-specific. Use Qatar's calculator or Manage booking rather than a saved per-kilogram fee table.
