About
Jetstar Asia Airways ceased operations on July 31, 2025. This guide is preserved for historical reference. Travelers seeking flights from Singapore should consider Jetstar (JQ) for Australia/New Zealand routes, or other Singapore-based carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Scoot, or regional low-cost carriers.
Jetstar Asia Airways was a Singapore-based low-cost carrier that operated as part of the Jetstar Group. Founded in 2004, the airline was a joint venture between Qantas Airways (49%) and a consortium of Singaporean investors (51%), structured to comply with Singapore's foreign ownership regulations for airlines.
Headquartered at Singapore Changi Airport, Jetstar Asia served as the regional arm of the Jetstar Group, focusing on short-haul routes throughout Southeast Asia and North Asia. At its peak, the airline operated to approximately 25 destinations across the region, including popular leisure and business destinations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
The airline's closure on July 31, 2025, came after years of mounting financial pressure. Supplier costs had increased by approximately 200%, airport charges continued to rise, and intensifying competition from regional low-cost carriers made the Singapore market increasingly challenging for the airline to sustain profitably.
The final Jetstar Asia flight, 3K764 from Manila to Singapore, operated on July 31, 2025. The closure resulted in approximately 500 staff redundancies, with the airline's fleet of 13 Airbus A320 aircraft redeployed to Jetstar Australia.
