Japan Airlines (JAL) is Japan's flag carrier and one of Asia's most prestigious airlines. Founded on August 1, 1951, JAL is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and operates from hubs at Tokyo Haneda (HND), Tokyo Narita (NRT), Osaka Kansai (KIX), and Osaka Itami (ITM). The airline serves over 60 domestic destinations and 39 international destinations across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania, operating a fleet of approximately 234 aircraft (as of September 2025).
As a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, JAL offers seamless connectivity through partners including American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, and Cathay Pacific. The airline has earned a Skytrax 5-Star rating and won multiple SKYTRAX 2025 World Airline Awards including "Best Premium Economy Class in Asia" and "World Best Economy Class Seat."
